Care to Compare?

Many people in my life that have been dropping off social media or using it less and less because in one way or another they feel bad about something their lives, watching others seemingly “flawless” lives unfold. To be honest every time I hear this my first thought is, WHAT?!?!?! You don’t really believe that do you?  All I can think is, you realize that’s like rolling out of bed, morning breath, hair a mess, shamelessly dressed and  turning on the TV, to see a model at a red carpet event looking flawless and thinking, "that’s it I will never be as pretty as her today SO...I am just going to go back to bed," right?  Those are totally different things, as different as the FB snippets of ones life and then their reality. As different as your life and their life, as different as what God has prepared you for and what He prepared them for. Marriage is hard.........our expectations make it harder.

I’ll never forget my 22 nd birthday, it was the day that I thought to myself, “Yes! Thank God! Now I am old enough to get married.” I know what you are thinking because now I am thinking it too, ‘Wait what?!? What did my dumb self just proclaim the young age with the high enough level of maturity to get married?’ Only that wasn’t exactly what I was thinking at all because truly I was too naïve to ever question what maturity had to do with marriage. I was already engaged to be married at that time and I just thought 22 sounded like a better age to be making such a large life choice than just 21 did. I mean ‘who could take a 21 year old seriously?’ is what I was projecting . I knew I was not going to prove to myself or anyone else around me that this 21 year old girl, the age that’s basically the poster child for drunken irresponsibility, was mature enough to know what she was doing. My thoughts on a big question.....I would love to hear yours......

I am starting to think that the grass will always feel like it is greener on the other side, even when we’ve been there and realize that is stinks like manure.  Stay at home mom vs. working mother to me is one of the great debates, which is harder? Which would you rather? I have contemplated those questions many many times and I use the green grass analogy because as it stands now I think the working mother some times sits at her desk and thinks about the pros of the stay at home mom’s life and vice versa rather than the pros of their own situation. Not everyone will be able or want to experience both lifestyles to realize they both really have their own very distinct set of pros and cons. It’s been on my brain a lot lately because I wasn’t always a stay at home mom and the “honeymoon” phase is starting to wear off a bit.
